Pollen: a Poem

Pollen: a Poem

Oh pollen-spewing horny trees
That every year cause me to sneeze
And fill my bleary eyes with rheum:
Give me a breather, pretty-please?

I know 'twould be be your species' doom
To never spread your polleny gloom;
And sleekit cow'ring tim'rous I thus
Wish in vain you'ld get a room.

But how I pray you'ld not affright us
With this annual sinusitis
Borne upon each April breeze
Your sweet lovemaking's cruel detritus.
